What do we do?

The Listen And Lean Centre has a team of psychologists and speech pathologists who offer assessments, therapy and treatment programs for a range of concerns, including educational, cognitive, speech and language, attention, auditory processing, depression and sleep difficulties.

Do you only help children?

The Centre has two offices, the Balwyn office is predominantly the children’s clinic, whilst the East Melbourne office provides treatment to our adult clientele.  Occasionally, assessments for adults may occur at the Balwyn, depending on our clinician’s availability.

We are also affiliated with the neuroCare Clinic in Sydney, and together we facilitate a range of Auditory Training and Neurofeedback programs for clients in Sydney.

What type of assessments do you offer?

The Listen And Learn Centre has a vast library of assessments our clinicians are able to administer. Our most common assessments are auditory processing, speech and language, cognitive, educational, ADHD, QEEG, anxiety, sleep, depression, and school readiness assessments.

How long will I be in the Centre?

Assessments are booked (usually) across three appointments.

The three appointments consist of an initial consultation (usually 60 minutes), an assessment (between 90 minutes to 3 hours depending on the type of assessment) and a feedback appointment at which the results of the assessment are given (from 30 minutes to 60 minutes depending on the assessment undertaken). Some assessments require testing over two or three dates, which will be discussed prior to booking.

How much does it cost?

The pricing structure varies depending on what type of appointment/assessment/program is undertaken.  As a general guide, assessments start at $495, with prices increasing depending on the assessment duration and depth of the requirements. The quoted fee incorporates all appointments required for the assessment and also includes a written report.

The Auditory Training Program has a pricing scale ranging from $98 per hour to $120.

Neurofeedback is charged at $220 per session billed in ten session increments.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

TMS is a non-invasive, short-term therapy which has been proven to help symptoms of Depression and OCD.  A pulsating magnetic field is positioned on the frontal region of the head to externally target specific areas of the brain. This improves the communication between regions of the brain involved in Depression. Antidepressant effects are usually noticed within 10 – 15 sessions. In combination with psychological counselling, this effect can be strengthened and stabilized for long-term results. On average 20 – 30 sessions are required. Frequent sessions are (at least two sessions per week) are recommended for best effect.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

The Auditory Training Program is an intensive program that usually requires fifteen sessions of two-hour duration over a three week period. A retest assessment will be booked eight weeks following the completion of the program.  The retest will clearly identify the efficacy of the program, the results of which will be discussed with you.

Neurofeedback is a thirty hour program, with sessions usually held twice a week for fifteen weeks.  Questionnaires are given to the client at the commencement of the program, and also at the tenth session.  At the thirtieth session, a QEEG is conducted which is used to interpret the program’s success. A psychologist will discuss the results of the final QEEG with you.

Do you offer sessions or programs on the weekend?

Unfortunately, the Listen And Learn Centre is closed on Saturday and Sunday.
